Saviour, a modern oratorio, presents the story of God pursuing His people from creation through to the resurrection of Jesus. The work blends classical musical patterns with contemporary form, and demands a lighting design that enhances rather than becomes the focal point. At Brentwood Baptist, which is blessed with a 250 member, all-volunteer choir and orchestra, I designed the lighting and had substantial input into what appeared on the center screen. The result was a moving and emotional presentation for the over 6,000 that attended the two showings.
