The Sing! Getty Music Worship Conference is an annual event held in Nashville, TN celebrating the rich library of Christian music and inspiring future artists to write music that will last centuries. The conference has been held at both Bridgestone Arena and the Gaylord Opryland Resort with around 8,000 attendees each year. As a music conference, lyrics are of utmost importance for both the attendees and those on stage. I have worked for several years with a full-time Getty staff member to organize and run the numerous songs using ProPresenter during rehearsal week and the conference itself. There are always a few surprises and (very) last-minute changes, so it’s important to stay on your feet.

Running lyrics might seem simple, but it’s anything but. It’s important for the lyrics to be right on time. If they’re too late, attendees will miss words and phrases while waiting for the next lyrics to appear, and this significantly undercuts their singing. If they’re too early, the movements and rhythms required to sing confidently seem off. We’ve all been to a concert and have experienced this, and it’s my goal to execute it perfectly every time.
